A pretty good caching year, and as I approached this milestone, I picked out a particular cache as my target for find #4000. That cache was Firestone, which happens to be the oldest active cache in the San Francisco Bay Area. Placed on 10/2/2000, this venerable old cache has stood the test of time.
Read on to hear a little about the adventure that was 4K. I had planned this cache, and timed it so that it could take place while my (now geocaching) parents could come along. Well, it turned out I didn't QUITE know what I was getting us into, and the terrain was a bit understated.
Fast forward through some wrong turns, a little vertigo, and a pair of really expensive dog tickets from Ranger Friendly, and... I had found my four thousandth cache. A little bitter-sweet, actually - you can read my log for additional details.
On to the next cache!
