Or: How the Bay Area Quad Challenge got me all fired up!
Just a short note, and 'ring of the bell', to commemorate my 5K find. Read 'below the cut' for the full story...
I had noticed the Bay Area Quadrangle Challenge [4] a while back - but like several other challenges, I didn't think I'd ever finish it.
Well - once I started doing some research - I found I was closer than I had originally thought. I started making specific, targeted caching runs to new parts of the bay area that I'd never explored before... and, it was almost like 'rediscovering' geocaching.
I'd find myself in entirely new areas - and some pretty amazing ones, at that. As I started to close in on my 5000th find - I realized that I was also closing in on my final quads of this challenge. I made sure to finish up the prerequisite finds with a few caches to spare, and got the final coords for this excellent challenge.
So on May 26th, 2007 - Daphne and I took the dogs, and headed off for what would be my 5K find. The cache lived up to expectations, and was an amazing hike (complete with additional caches, to be found on the way back) in and of itself.
Like previous major milestone caches -- this was definitely one to remember.
